Beard products in hand

This week I was keen on buying some beard products and check out how different the beard would look and feel. So far I was using my after shave on the beard which was making it smell really nice and feel soft like when you use a conditioner.

The "Mr. Bear Wilderness Family" balm, from Sweden, arrived together with the tiny wax can "Capt. Fawcett's Moustache wax - Expedition Strength" with the 'famous' sandalwood scent, from the UK.

I applied the balm on the beard, quite oily (obviously for something purely made of oils) which makes me think on how that will affect my skin and maybe cause pimples to grow under the beard since oils on the skin are a big cause of that. My wife said that the smell of the balm is very strong and I smell like a forest, will see in a few days what's her assessment.

I applied the wax on my moustache and have mixed feelings about the smell and how efficient it is. Tests yet to be performed. For now I leave you with the facts, expensive products and I'm not yet sure if I will prefer the balm over my Nivea aftershave.

The beard path

For as long as I can remember of my adult life I have been shaving, and at some point I started also shaving my egg-shaped head, and the reason for that was that I was actually getting bald on the top of my head (the crown) and didn't like at all the looks of it, so full on bald was the chosen look. It worked for me for the good part of the last 10 years, but lately I started seeing more and more beards and have to admit, I started being jealous.

A few months ago I started growing my own, but I'm a beard 'virgin', a newbie, so I think I'll share with you, non-existent reader, the progress of my beard growth.

First, this is me, head shaved, face shaved.

I didn't have a better selfie to share, but who has, right?

I never liked the way my moustache grew, so I tried ignoring it, didn't work out.

By the way, since then I decided to grow the moustache, eventually I had to shave it all and start from scratch.

This one was a week or two after decision to leave the moustache on, but a couple of days before shaving all again to start fresh.

And here is how things are at the moment.

I'll try to elaborate more on a future post, for now, that's it.
